Picture Perfect

Hana eagerly awaits the start of Cirque du Soleil: Quidam at The Royal Albert Hall. The whole performance was incredible from start to finish and answered that pesky question: what happens if you cross jump rope for heart with 25 professional circus performers?

Two weeks after moving into our new flat (yes, our third here in London) we have purchased some furniture - no easy feat when you don't have a car. This is Hana, chief engineer of the IKEA drawer construction team. They haven't fallen apart yet so she must have done a good job. (Apologies for the sideways pictures. Not sure what's going on there.)

New kitchen complete with rice cooker (somewhat necessary for me) and traditional Scottish recipes on a tea towel

Kitchen/Dining room with Johnny, one of our two new Scottish flatmates. The dining room is small but has already hosted a roast dinner for six and a cheese night.

Our room. It's very big. Almost twice the size of the kitchen and dining rooms put together.

Now that we are planning to stay in one place for more than two months we are getting a bit more settled and making our room a bit more 'us' (as far as the designs of IKEA will allow).

Got a couch for $20 from across the road. Fittingly, it is also from IKEA.

The view from our room/balcony. The train station is right next to the orange building, so it's close without being too close. We are looking froward to spring and seeing some new leaves.

(I've just seen this blog and think it is worth noting that the emphasis on black in our room was not our choice, and does not reflect our mood. That was gifted to us when we moved in. I'm usually someone who goes for quite neutral colours; all I want to do now is get a giant tin of bright yellow paint and throw it everywhere. The blackness is a feature throughout the house.
