1984

Whenever you meet someone who lives in London they're quick to say it's an amazing city because "there's always something happening".  At first, this was a daunting summary of a city where I could barely navigate the public transport system. But as time has worn on, I find myself using the same line.

There is always something happening.

We have a blackboard up in our room in which we document what's coming up; what we've booked in. And it's always full, in fact, as I type this it's spilling over onto a second blackboard.  Just yesterday I said to David I need to stop picking up the free newspaper on my tube ride home from work each day; every day I see an ad for something else I want to go to.  Usually out of my price range, but at least once a week it's something that's not. Dangerous (for the bank balance) but exciting (for every other reason).

Since Easter, we've been to two Shakespeare plays at The Globe; Hamlet and Much Ado About Nothing, we've been to the filming of The Graham Norton Show, and we've walked the streets where Shakespeare wandered as a child in Stratford Upon Avon.

In the next month we're going to two gigs (Foxes and S. Carey for those interested), 1984 in play form, the west end show Once, London Zoo at night time, Brighton for a day trip, a west end show/dinner, and a late night at the science museum.

This is not meant as a brag (more as a document to myself to remind us of exactly how much we did). Though, if anyone is reading this and even just thinking about heading off on their OE, I'm going to use this moment to say "do it". No ifs or buts.

There is ALWAYS something happening here.
